The Willow is an in-school provision which caters for students who due to a variety of reasons would not otherwise receive a suitable full time education. We believe that a provision based on teaching our students how to achieve in core subjects, in managing personal behaviours and in developing employability skills is vital to success.

Our aim is to provide a calm, supportive and happy environment where students can thrive, learn and achieve their best. We are an inclusive provision where every student is valued and staff work hard to help our students develop their skills, knowledge and positive attitudes in order to help them to become responsible and respectful young adults.

At The Willow we recognize that students are all individuals with different strengths and weaknesses, acknowledging that mainstream education is not for everyone. Therefore we offer flexible programs with a ride range of positive experiences to meehttp://www.sawtryva.org/academy-information/special-educational-needs-support/willow/t the needs of our students, so that they can develop the confidence to believe in themselves and make positive choices for their futures.

Educational Links at The Willow:

The Willow works in association with a local farm homegrownandraised.

Homegrownandraised are a small, traditional, family-run educational small-holding/farm based in Cambridgeshire who support our students to achieve their animal care qualifications. They own a large variety of farm animals ranging from free range pigs and cattle to hedgehogs and chicks, which they bring to us once a month to teach the students how to care for animals. They have also provided us with two pet rabbits in which the students have to care for on a daily basis and we receive incubators twice a year and hatch our own eggs.

The Willow Gardening Project:

At The Willow students have been making big changes to the garden! The students have been planning designing and changing the garden since September 2015. They have cut out borders for flowers, made a seating area, built planters and planted seeds to grow lots of vegetables. None of this however could of happened without local companies donating resources, so a big thankyou to Travis Perkins in Huntingdon, Dobbies in Peterborough, Van Hague Garden Centre in Peterborough and Waterside Garden Centre in Baston along with the National Trust for donating the school some bushes.
