Key stage 4 and 5 students enjoyed a trip down to London to visit the National Portrait Gallery to see the BP Portrait Award exhibition. After lunch at McDonalds and a brief stop at Trafalgar Square to watch the street performers the students then visited the Mall Galleries near Buckingham Palace for the National Students Art Exhibition. It was great to see the 21 artworks on display from Sawtry VA students as well as all the other best artwork from around the country.
‘Thank you for arranging another successful trip to London for the Art students yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed the Portrait Gallery, but the visit to the Mall Galleries later in the day was our highlight. This is such a wonderful gallery and it is outstanding that so many pieces of art by Sawtry pupils were selected for display, and will be viewed by so many people. I am extremely proud of Alex and it was delightful to see all four pieces of her worked, framed and displayed across the gallery rooms. May I thank you and your art team for putting forth Alex’s work and supporting her during her time at Sawtry.’ – Debra Bolton
‘I really enjoyed this trip.To see other students work and ideas is really helpful as it gives an idea of the level of art you need to aim at. For me this trip made me look forward, plan and challenge my work ready for my A level in Art. ‘ Ben Adams
‘I was so amazed and proud of myself to have been selected for the NSAE amongst other incredible art pieces. It was such a huge achievement.’ Amy Bogusz
