50 Sawtry VA Year 8 art students were treated to a day out in London by the Art Department on Saturday 24th February. Most students had not visited an art gallery before so were wonderstruck when looking around the National Gallery. They sat enthralled in front of the paintings as Sawtry VA Art staff entertained them with gallery talks on some of the Nation’s and indeed World’s most famous paintings. After some independent study time in the gallery the students then took in the atmosphere of Trafalgar Square and the street entertainers before heading off to the London Eye. An enjoyable and slightly chilly boat trip up and down the river Thames gave students a taste of the city’s sights from ground level. However the most spectacular panoramic sights of the capital were then experienced from on-board the London Eye. All students were tremendously well behaved and a credit to the school and a fantastic day enjoyed by everyone.
