Guided Pathways
Students at Sawtry Village Academy, from Year 9, are able to personalise their curriculum whilst maintaining a broad and balanced education. Parents/Carers will receive a letter outlining the process.
The Guided Pathway Process:
Step 1 – Come to the Guided Pathway evening. Watch the Parent and Student Presentation that outlines the process and offers advice on things to consider.
Step 2 – Have conversations at home about subjects that interest students, possible careers and aspirations for the future, including what qualifications might be needed or useful to make that dream come true. What are students strengths’ and weaknesses?
Step 3 – Read the information below to help make decisions. Watch and read the video presentations provided by subject leaders and student ambassadors to help answer commonly asked questions and offer more detail.

Should you have further questions then please do not hesitate to contact staff directly using the email addresses above.
Step 4 – Use advice already on the internet
Students also have log in details for www.unifrog.org, a website used throughout Years 7-11 in Core Studies lessons. It is a one-stop-shop where students can easily explore their interests in possible future careers, find out what qualifications are needed, and which pathways are available to them to get there. If a student needs help logging in, they should contact their Core Studies teacher or watch the following video:
Step 5 – Decide on which courses would be most beneficial to follow and complete your Guided Pathway personalised form. For lost forms please contact Hjohnson@sawtryva.org
All Guided pathway forms should be completed by Monday 31st March 2025.
Should a student wish to change their mind after the deadline, they should contact CWheeler@sawtryva.org urgently. There is no guarantee classes will have spaces or that moves would not cause clashes in subjects.
