Sixth Form Attendance
Unplanned absences including illness: email SVAOakHouse@Sawtryva.org or call 01487 830701. Parent/carer confirmation is required (students cannot self-consent) but students may email us and cc a parent/carer
Planned absence including university open days and appointments: please complete the REQUEST FOR AUTHORISED ABSENCE below or on a paper copy from Hayley in the Sixth Form office. This must be handed into Hayley and be signed by your teachers
Unplanned absence during the school day: for safeguarding reasons you must see Hayley, Mr. Hill or Miss Hay before you go home and parent/carer confirmation is required
Guidance on Attendance & Punctuality
- Attendance at SVA Sixth Form is expected to remain above 96% to ensure good academic and pastoral progress. Students sign a contract on entry with this figure stated. Attendance at all timetabled lessons is compulsory
- Attendance at registration (8.35am – 9.00am each day) is compulsory as this is where we deliver our pastoral and careers programmes
- Attendance is also required during Period 1 (9.00am – 10.00am each day) for all students. Off-site privileges commence from Period 2 onwards. Off-site priveleges only apply from January of Year 12; in the Autumn term students may only go off-site during break, lunch or period 5
- Punctuality is expected – Gaining 3 late marks in a single term will result in a 30 minute detention being given and every subsequent 3 lates will result in a 60 minute detention
- If your attendance falls below 90% you may be required to pay for your examinations. If you are absent for more than 5 consecutive school days you will be required to provide a Medical Certification
- If you are absent you must ask your teachers for work and catch up as soon as possible
- If you are on intervention or behind on work, you will be required to remain on-site at all times during the school day until you are caught up and making expected progress
